AMA

Dr. Michael Arnold Glueck reports the following on jewishworldreview.com

It may be over soon — our medical system once the envy of the world — will give way to the national transition to a socialistic society. The one group that should have stood up to the Obama healthcare plan has thrown in the towel.

Before being personally bombarded for my views let me say that I am a retired physician and have no financial interests in nor do I make a penny from the medical system. But I do have a sacred interest in my own health and that of my family and of others in this country.

In Washington, D.C., the Director of Policy and Public Affairs for the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), responded on July 17 to the AMA’s endorsement of House Bill 3200.

AAPS Director Kathryn Serkes strongly pointed out that, “The American Medical Association has sold out patients and the profession by endorsing House bill that supports government medicine.”

Why did the AMA do it? For a few dollars increase in Medicare reimbursement rates. In effect, it’s told patients, ‘It’s about the money, stupid.’ And we’re not talking about a lot of money. Readers forget that Medicare reimbursement rates are based on a 1980′s scale and get cut back almost every year. In spite of widely circulated myths — doctor’s do not get rich from a Medicare like sytem that pays pennies on the dollar. Almost nothing plus a few bucks equals almost nothing.

A miniscule raise — one that can be revoked at any time on Congressional whim — is not worth selling out for government control of medicine. The AMA has sold patient choice, patient privacy and patient control to the socialistic regime of President Obama.

The AMA had the unbridled nerve to stand up with the President and pledge to reduce costs — on the very day that it sent out an alert to its members urging them to contact Congress in support of a physician pay raise. Now that is the meaning of chutzpah!

The AMA is trying to paint any doctors who oppose them as being ‘anti-reform,’ but that’s not true. Most doctors are for reform — real reform that puts patients and their physicians in control, not the government.
